The International Snow Sculpture Contest
This contest takes place every year in Breckenridge. Teams from around the world travel to Breckenridge to compete in this world renowned contest. Expect to be amazed by the craftsmanship that goes into each piece of art. The sculptures are 12 feet tall and are placed in a prominent viewing area right off Main Street, a sure eye catcher. The event takes place in late January or early February but check local listings for exact competition dates.
Spring Massive
Looking for a way to enjoy the last few days of snow? Every year Breckenridge holds their Spring Massive, an incredible multi-day event focused on entertainment, family activities and spring skiing. Activities include free music, ski competitions (you better pack a couple costumes), a beer festival and more. This event takes place right at the end of the ski season so you'll also find incredible deals on lodging and airfare, not a bad way to say good-bye to another great year of skiing.
4th of July Celebrations
Celebrating the 4th in Summit County is an easy choice. With great weather and plenty of events, you are sure to find something for everyone. Most community in Summit County hosts some sort of celebration with parades, craft fairs and fireworks as standard practice. Breckenridge hosts the Firecracker 50 around the 4th, an incredible 50 mile bike race through the mountains set up for novice and expert riders alike. Run the Rockies
For over 30 years Run the Rockies has been the highlight running event in Summit County. Enjoy incredible views while running a mostly downhill course. Length options are available, half-marathon and 10K, depending on the type of runner you are and spectators are known to have just as much fun as the participants.
Keystone Bluegrass and Beer Festival
One of the great ways to enjoy the long days of summer in Summit County is to plan a trip during the Bluegrass Festival. This annual event usually takes place during the first party of August and includes incredible food, beers from around Colorado and of course, great bluegrass music. The event is kid friendly with specific kid events happening each day. Get your camp chairs and beer mugs dusted off for this this incredible summer event.
Breckenridge Festival of Film
If you're a film buff, then September may be the right month for you to plan your Summit County vacation. Each year, dozens of filmmakers, celebrities head to Breckenridge for the festival of film. Expect dozens of films, great parties, special events and even an educational seminar or two. You'll be able to catch premieres of up and coming independent films while walking main street with all sorts of celebrities. Check local listings for films and event dates.
